Description
To determine the blood group and Rh type, mainly for transfusion purposes, the Blood Grouping (ABO and Rh (D)) test is carried out. Red blood cells’ (RBCs) surface antigens are detected during this test. This test is used by medical professionals to diagnose hemolytic disease in the fetus and newborn following placental transmission from mother to fetus, as well as to determine the anti-D antibody titer of Rh-negative mothers after sensitization during pregnancy with a Rh-positive fetus, identify any adverse events during transfusion, and ascertain the ABO and Rh compatibility between the donor and recipient prior to transfusion.
